When shall we worship? While it is always a good time to worship God, we believe that God has appointed special times to assemble, worship, and praise His name. The bible tells us when these special times are.
“And the LORD
spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to the children of Israel, and say to
them: The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy
convocations, these are my feasts’”. (Leviticus 23: 1-2)
God calls his special times of worship “feasts of the Lord”! The
feasts of Lord include the Sabbath, Passover (The Lord’s Supper Service)
and Days of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets, Day of
Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles, and Last Great Day. Although these
feast days were commanded by God in the Old Testament, they are as
relevant today as they were back then. God is the same yesterday, today,
and tomorrow! The feasts of the Lord are God’s feast days, not Jewish
holidays. Although they commemorated important events in Israel’s
spiritual history, they also looked to the future. Pointing to Jesus
Christ and God’s plan of salvation through Him, God’s feast days have
more meaning for Christians then they ever did to ancient Israel. After
all, just about everything in the Old Testament scriptures pointed to
Jesus Christ. As one grows in his or her understanding of Gods feast
days, the New Testament literally comes to life in ways that it never
did or could before. In fact, the feasts of the Lord point to every
important event and every aspect of God’s plan of salvation that is
important to Christians. And there is something else that should be
considered. According to the overwhelming testimony of the Scriptures,
God’s feast days were observed by Jesus Christ, the apostles, and New
Testament church. So, come worship with us as we celebrate the feasts of
the Lord!
